ABOUT ME
Mary Margaret Murphy is a recent graduate of the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. She graduated in May 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations and minors in English and Social Sciences, and now works in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as a freelance Journalist and Public Relations professional.
Mary has enjoyed her contract position as Manager of Content Development for VisitDFW , the premier online resource for DFW visitors, since April 2017. She also has provided services for OnPoynt , a local drone company, and Pureway, a medical waste company in Katy, Texas. Previously, she interned at Richardson Living Magazine as a contributing writer and social media manager, and she has written articles for the College of Education at UNT, Katy Healthy Living magazine and The University News at the University of Dallas. She loves reading, writing and sharing the stories of businesses and individuals.

Rhetoric and ethics is the perfect combination to study as a Public Relations major. Lately, I’ve enjoyed learning how to communicate ethically with the public. I’m in a Modern Rhetoric class (the last course of my English minor), and for the last two months we’ve been studying ethical theories and how they relate to rhetorical practice.

The garden at Flamingo Island Preschool began with a few small planter boxes. Now, they’re developing the gardening project for their students. The City of Richardson recently approved Flamingo Island’s plans to build an outdoor learning center and botanical garden, as well as a small community garden, on 3,000 square feet outside their preschool.
